January felt like silent momentum.
I intentionally made goals, broke down larger projects into attainable, granular tasks, and woke up each day asking myself what I can cross off the to-do list - today - to move closer to my larger vision. Which led me to that ever-pestering, existential chase for purpose. Is art what fills me? Am I doing it to prove something? Because it lights me up? Or because I cannot imagine not doing it - and isn’t that reason enough? Lately, I’ve been noticing that dreams truly are achievable when you just show up. Even if the dream isn’t fully formed, maybe it’s the showing up that gives the heart the room to dream. It’s the showing up that lets the heart make today meaningful. As January closed, I was reminded to view my actions the same way I view those of the people I love: it’s the effort (especially when directionless or fruitless) that we put into the little moments (a knowing look, a hostess gift, dancing to music alone, smiling to yourself at the blueness of the winter sky) that make for a meaningful life.
